Hi, my name is Vauna Beauvais and I am the therapist that you will see for your sessions when you come here.
This page will tell you a little about who I am and my qualifications and experience.
The things I tell you here will help you to feel at ease with me both as a person and your therapist.
By learning a little about me you will feel more comfortable when we first talk or meet.

I did my Psychotherapy training at the Berne Institute, an independent training organisation providing high quality training for psychotherapists in the Transactional Analysis approach.
As a participant and believer in Continuing Professional Development I continue to work individually and collaboratively with other professionals to further my personal and professional development.
In practice, this means that
  • I have therapy myself when my own issues arise, so that i am fully present for you in our sessions (and so I don’t act out my own stuff).
  • I  read industry journals sent to my workplace (publications for memberships of UKCP, BACP, ITA, etc)
  • I read at least 6 books per year on the subjects of therapy, coaching, counselling, so that I keep informed about various approaches to therapy.
  • I attend at least one training course every year to further my own professional development.
  • I attend at least the number of clinical supervision session per year as set down by the UKCP for psychotherapists.

Professional Memberships:

I am acredited, and therefore am registered with United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP)
I am a  member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
I am a certified member of Institute of Transactional Analysis
I am also a member of CIPD Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development

Experience

I have been in private practice here, at Nottingham Therapy, since 2001.
I’ve previously worked for the NHS, over about 5 years, as a psychotherapist, group therapist. and Counsellor.
I’ve been in privat epractice here, since 2001
I’ve attended many clinical placements, including Community Mental Health Team, Mandala House, Connect Therapeutic Community.
I have a lot of experience with all different kinds of clients and the variety of problems and issues that they may have. I am committed to anti-discriminatory practice and welcome clients from all backgrounds, cultures and sexualities.
